Recently I have begun to create my designs for the Greek Temple. I have used iDraw to create the floor plan of the Temple as I mentioned in the last post. As there is little variation in the plan of a classical Greek Temple I have not been able to add my input to the floor plan, however the exterior I will be able to interpret. For the exterior of the temple I have started sketching my ideas with pencil and adding some colour. To begin with I started with sketching the Parthenon and the Nereid Monument from my photographs taken at the British Museum, both of which are examples of Classical Greek Architecture. I found these as good starting points because they were able to start my creative process. As I was sketching and thinking about the Classical buildings I could think about how I could add a modern twist on the architecture.
After I have sketched a few different ideas I will present my designs to some of my friends who took Classics at GCSE and A-level to help me decide which design to create the model of.
Below are the pictures from the British museum I based my sketches on and some scans of my drawings.
