Tomorrow I am handing in my EPQ and the project will be over. I have taken this time to evaluate my project as a whole and what I have accomplished.
My project has been challenging and there have been ups and downs. At the beginning of the project I was not very confident in essay writing and how I would cope at university, however after writing my Literature Review, Report, this blog and reading my sources I feel that I have improved upon my skills and left my comfort zone in that sense. Speaking of moving out of my comfort zone the Extended Project was something that I was not sure about doing in the beginning. I knew that it would be a good experience, however I was very shy and did not know if I would be able to complete it. On the other hand now that I have completed the project my primary inhibitions seem juvenile and silly. I am glad that I continued the project even though many of my friends dropped out a month into the project.
I have learnt so many new skills through my project; one of which is model making. I know that this skill will be useful to build upon at university. I say build upon because I know that my model is not perfect and that I will need a few more years of practice before any of my models are however now I know the basics. I knew that model making would be one of the skills that I would learn from the offset, but improving my essay writing and learning how to use new programmes such as iDraw was a surprise. I think it was just the way that my project changed and evolved as I went along, it was never going to stay exactly the way I wanted my project to go from the beginning. Nevertheless that is the nature of a project like this and I suppose it is another skill I learnt; how to adapt to things that don't quite go to plan. For example running out of foam board on my final model and having to buy more. I understand more often than not things are not going to go as planned and that is where my problem solving skills can step in.
All in all I am proud of my project and what I have achieved through it although next time I think that I will learn to buy more than enough foam board.
