On the left is a photo of my display from the Extended Project Qualification presentation evening. For the presentation I produced six A3 posters in addition to my designs and model. On the six posters I wrote brief bullet points on why I wanted to pursue this topic and my process including; planning, research and learning new skills. I found that the static display suited my project more than I think a lecture would have. It allowed me to be more engaged with the audience and vice vera. They could ask all of the questions they were curious about and look in depth at my model. It was much more rewarding as I could see each member of my audience one at a time instead of just a face in the crowd. |
At the presentation evening, a variety of people came, there was one student who is studying classics at AS and wanted to visit my stand to gain more knowledge about greek culture. This was especially interesting because we were able to talk and discuss in depth about the subject before they left to go to another talk. On the other hand there were some people who visited my stand who knew nothing about greek culture and just wanted to learn something new. I liked talking to people who weren't experts on the subject because I could talk about any area of my project not just the background knowledge but the design process and model. Particularly people were fascinated when I told them interesting fact that I learnt though my research, such as the temples were all originally painted in bright and decorative colours along with the statues. Or the fact that none of the lines on the temples were designed straight because most often they would be looked upon from below and if all of the edges were straight the temple would look out of proportion.
Overall I enjoyed the presentation evening and I think that it allowed me to test the knowledge that I gained throughout my project and clarify it all.
